NJIP Superintendent Cohort

The NJ Inclusion Project (NJIP) Superintendent Cohort is a year-long professional learning and collaboration opportunity designed for a small group of New Jersey superintendents who are committed to advancing inclusive education across their districts. Assistant superintendents may also apply. The cohort provides district leaders with a confidential space to engage in meaningful conversation, problem-solve around barriers to inclusive practices, share resources and ideas, and learn from one another's experiences. Rather than a traditional professional development series, the cohort is designed around the real challenges and opportunities that district leaders face as they work to strengthen inclusive systems.

Throughout the year, cohort members will participate in monthly virtual meetings focused on discussion, collaborative problem-solving, resource sharing, and strategic thinking. Each participating district may also take advantage of a site visit, bringing together the superintendent and other district and building administrators for school walkthroughs, reflection, and dialogue about inclusive practices. Following the walkthrough, ALL IN will facilitate a brief professional learning experience and discussion with the district's administrative team, with a focus on least restrictive environment (LRE) and the systems, structures, and practices that support meaningful inclusion.

Cohort members will also receive a 1-day complimentary registration to the ALL IN Inclusion Leadership Conference, with opportunities for cohort members to share their experiences and learning with a broader audience. Throughout the year, participants will have access to a shared resource hub containing tools, resources, and information to support their ongoing work. The cohort is ultimately intended to build a network of district leaders who can learn with and from one another, challenge traditional approaches, and lead sustainable systems change that expands inclusive opportunities for students with disabilities.
