The spring meeting’s theme is Keep On Moving: Partnerships that Honor All Students’ Exceptionalities. Mother Teresa is quoted as saying, “I can do things you cannot, you can do things I cannot; together we can do great things.” Effective educators understand the need for expertise and strength in partnerships of all kinds. A partnership between a department of special education and a department of instruction can yield higher academic standards for all students than if they worked alone. Districts with strong relationships with their community might have more local job sites to partner with for students transitioning out of K-12. At this meeting, we'll delve into partnerships in all their varied forms.

What's the cost of attending?
Registration is covered for members based on their membership level. For non-members, registration is $450 for the 2.5 day meeting.
What happens at a UC meeting?
During these meetings, special and general education leaders from across the country collaborate to share resources, research, and ideas on "what works and why." Sessions include school visits, districts presenting to each other on information connected to the meeting’s theme, members acting as consultants to address a host district’s dilemma, size-alike sessions, keynote speakers, student voice, student art, and a muralist. According to one member: "To be in a space over the course of a few days, with like-minded, mostly urban special educators who were focused on equity and improving systems and student outcomes was nectar to my soul.” Linked is the detailed program from our last member meeting in Albuquerque, NM.
Why should I attend?
The meetings are geared towards providing attendees with an experience that expands their knowledge-base and offers a space to move from day-to-day responsibilities to think about the larger picture. We also focus on developing opportunities for members to connect with colleagues from across the country.
What's the deadline for registering?
The deadline is April 17, 2026. Newark Liberty International Airport Marriott has blocked rooms for us April 19-22, 2026, at a rate of $189 USD per night. The last day to book at this rate is Monday, March 2, 2026.
