This session examines why effectively achieving inclusion has proven to be elusive in many urban schools and introduces Rightful Presence as a transformative framework for creating truly inclusive learning environments. Participants will explore how racism and ableism have systematically marginalized students at the intersection of race and disability, perpetuating inequitable educational experiences and outcomes. Additionally, participants will discuss practical entry points for implementing practices aligned to the tenets of Rightful Presence. Lastly, attendees will learn about resources and services available through the SWIFT National Center on Inclusion Toward Rightful Presence to support and enhance their inclusion efforts.
